Birthdays are a tricky thing. You tend to find that the older you get, the less you want to celebrate them. The older you get, the cracks start to show, the wrinkles set in, and the aches and pains get worse… but it is the polar opposite for a company, especially one in the world of crypto and Web3. 

Any company surviving one year in Web3 is doing amazing things, two years, well, you are onto something, three years, come on seriously, how are you doing this… four years, now by four years you are an OG, you’ve seen things, you’ve been on the journey. You’ve seen bulls and bears and made it through them. Your skin is tougher, thicker. Your startup is now scaling, it’s not crawling, it’s walking, dare we say even running. And all this preamble is leading to one thing, one very important thing… FLIGHT3 MADE IT TO FOUR YEARS OLD

Happy Birthday to us… Give us a block of verified digital cake, please.   

To be honest, did our intern nearly forget to put it in the calendar, maybe, we can’t possibly confirm or deny. Did this post get rushed into production in the early hours of the morning to make sure it made it onto the website in time… absolutely not, how could you even think such a thing… has the intern been fired… YES. We joke, but it really is amazing to look away for what seems like a few minutes only to find out that we are four. 

One day you’re trying to convince degen devs to spend a little on promoting their latest monkey JPEG, the next you are driving real world change with Coinbase, Solana, Optimism, VeChain, Ondo, Near and so many others… we name dropped a little there… was it too much… you get the picture. 

Flight3 being four is something that isn’t easy at all. Many try, many fail, but we are growing with each year, like a fine wine or single malt.

Some People Made Sourdough We Built A Web3 Agency

During the covid lockdowns (shuddering allowed) people binged 90s sitcoms, some learned how to make beef wellingtons or bake bread, but alas that was not for us. Off the back of building, running, and marketing in-house, we catapulted headfirst into Web3’s chaotic swirl. We started as Zebu Digital the scrappy startup and developed into Flight3, the award-winning Web3 agency, that got acquired by Steven Bartlett in 2023.

Built in the Bull Sharpened in the Bear

We came into this space at full throttle. The bull market was raging and Web3 felt like a series of never-ending mint parties and 3am Discord pings. The vibe was: launch fast, launch loud, and probably launch again next week.

We thrived in the madness, delivering campaigns in multiple time zones, watching memes become million-dollar movements and helping founders turn ideas into ecosystems overnight.

But let’s be honest, anyone can market in a bull run. What separates the hype machines from the long-haulers is how you show up when the charts turn red. And that’s where we got better. If you can’t stand the heat, get out the kitchen… well we stayed, and we cooked. 

Yes, things got tough, it wasn’t easy at all, but we are at heart 100% grinders. There were months at the absolute worst when you did wonder if crypto would survive… Luna, Celsius, and FTX (therapy still on speed dial). But when the chips are down, you see who you truly are, who your team truly are. 

At Flight3, we employ eternal optimists; it’s in our DNA, from our Founders down. The Bear meant quieter markets and sharper focus. Less noise, more intention. We doubled down on strategy, tightened our storytelling and creative teams, delivered work that wasn’t just good, it was timeless. We didn’t cut and run like so many others, we leaned in and we doubled down. 

Zebu Live might have been born at the peaks of the bull market in 2021, but it was really made in the Bear Market years that followed. Each year in October, we showed not only London but the world that Web3 was here to stay and that Zebu Live and Flight3 were here to stay too. With our 5th edition of Zebu Live just around the corner this October 21-22, we’ve really shown that Bear or Bull, we are here for the long run.

Numbers can sometimes be misleading but they can also paint a picture, and for this Birthday walk down memory lane, we wanted to take a moment to look back at some numbers that we are proud of:

  • 85+ successful token & product launches
  • 75+ brands designed from scratch or reborn
  • 40+ events organised across the globe
  • 4 Zebu Live editions (2020-2024), with 12,000+ attendees
  • 35k+ Web3 hours logged by the team
  • 1,500+ Telegram groups created with KOLs, ecosystem players, clients and more
  • 10 office moves (all within London!) - That must be a record for any company ever*

Where Are We Heading?

Four years in, we’ve matured but not in a boring, corporate way (yawn). We’ve made some big moves behind the scenes to help us scale and deliver even better work:

  • Luke Courtenay-Smith is now our Managing Director, bringing serious operational firepower, a flair for leadership and a background that includes everything from scaling agencies to somehow ending up in Vogue.
  • Olesia Lacko has stepped into the Chief Operating Officer role and if you’ve ever wondered how our chaos turns into actual results, it’s probably thanks to her.
  • We’ve also got a brand new Head of People joining soon, because as we grow, we’re doubling down on building culture, not just campaigns.

And yes, we’ve moved into a shiny new London HQ in London Bridge. It’s got big windows, creative energy and the exact amount of startup mess to remind us where we came from.

These changes aren’t just about titles or desks, they’re about setting Flight3 up for the next leap.
