The easiest way into Web3? Volunteer at an event

Web3 is here to stay. And while it's a community of industry gigabrains doubling up as memelords, it can be tricky to get into.
Let's rewind a couple of years. One of our own team started out as a fresh-faced, wide-eyed volunteer at Zebu Live. Hard to believe now, but that was the way in: free swag, VIP-level access and a room full of people who'd normally never reply to a cold DM.

Why volunteering works
- First-hand experience. You see how a major tech event actually runs, from the stage to the backstage chaos.
- Networking you can't buy. Founders, investors and creators are far more approachable when you're the one helping them find their panel.
- Behind-the-scenes access. You get closer to the conversations than most ticket holders do.
- Confidence. You might be very confident already. In which case, good for you. For the rest of us, it helps.
Who it's for
Students, Web3 newcomers or anyone who's just passionate about being part of the ecosystem. No experience needed, just good vibes and a can-do attitude. If you can code a full blockchain in under 30 minutes, it won't help, but we will be very impressed.
How to make the most of it
- Say yes to the unglamorous jobs. That's usually where you meet the organisers.
- Follow up with the people you meet within 48 hours, while they still remember you.
- Treat it like the first week of a job, not a free ticket.
Whether it's Zebu Live or a side event during London Web3 Week, volunteering is still one of the best ways to launch yourself into the deep end of Web3.
